The seeds of yoga were planted deep within me from the time I was a child. I recall hearing my father’s stories of growing up in India and Nepal where his father worked for the World Health Organization. These seeds bloomed and led me to share the teachings of yoga for nearly the last 20 years.
In 2010, I explored the world of yoga studio ownership. I walked that path for 8 years and had the privilege of meeting so many amazing people until the Universe intervened and forced me to do something I couldn’t bring myself to do…walk away. This was one of the hardest things I have ever done. The feeling of disappointing others and letting people down was unbearable, but what was more overwhelming was my exhaustion, my anxiety and my burnout. My burnout was so debilitating that it took me over a year to reclaim my life.
As a recovering overachiever I can tell you that burnout is real. It is an epidemic in a society that glorifies being busy. It wasn’t until I was forced to close my studio that I was able to reflect upon the path that I had been walking. In a world that measures success by the amount of items on your calendar, I was blind to seeing just how burnt out I was and for how long. This profound experience led me to my true path of serving others so that they can recover quicker, or better yet, recognize the signs of burnout before its too late.
I’m here to tell you that burnout is not a badge of honor. I’m here to tell you that I have been there and that you are not alone. I know how you feel and I can help. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Let me show you.
